How the Calculator Works

We use daily historical price data for 100+ cryptocurrencies denominated in USD. Enter your hypothetical investment amount, select an asset and a start/end date, and the calculator shows the closing-price return - no fees, taxes, or spreads deducted. Results are purely educational and do not account for the practical challenges of executing trades at exact historical prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this show real trading returns?

No - results are hypothetical. They assume a single purchase at the daily closing price and a single sale at the closing price on the end date, with no trading fees, slippage, taxes, or exchange downtime factored in.

How far back does the data go?

It depends on the asset. Bitcoin data starts from 2010. Most major altcoins are available from 2015 onwards. Very new tokens may have limited history.

Why are some dates or coins unavailable?

Data gaps exist when coins were not listed on major exchanges or when exchange data was unavailable. We note when estimated prices are used.

Should I use this to make investment decisions?

No. This tool is purely educational. Cryptocurrency is highly volatile and past returns - especially the most extreme ones - are not predictive of future performance.

Where does the price data come from?
