El costo real de los hábitos diarios
Small daily expenses rarely feel significant in the moment. A $5 morning coffee, a $12 lunch, a $3 streaming subscription - these feel trivial individually. But compounded over years, the opportunity cost is surprisingly large.
This calculator applies dollar-cost averaging (DCA) - the strategy of investing a fixed amount on a regular schedule regardless of market conditions. Instead of timing the market, you buy more shares when prices are low and fewer when prices are high, naturally smoothing your average purchase price over time.
Cómo funciona el cálculo
For each trading day in the selected period, the calculator divides your daily amount by the S&P 500 price to determine how many shares (or fractional shares) you would have purchased. Weekend and holiday contributions are rolled forward to the next market open. At the end of the period, your total shares are multiplied by the latest price to get today's portfolio value.
