What is the "Miss Generator"?
It calculates the hypothetical value of an investment you did not make. Enter a stock or crypto ticker, a date, and an amount - we show exactly what that investment would be worth at any later date.
Does this use real data?
Yes. We use adjusted historical prices from financial data providers. Dividends are included for stocks (DRIP model). Crypto prices are daily closes in USD.
Can I use this to calculate gains I actually made?
Yes - just set the start date to when you actually bought, and the end date to when you sold (or today).
Why does my result differ from what my broker shows?
Our calculations exclude brokerage fees, tax events, and bid/ask spreads. Your broker's figures reflect actual transaction costs.
